About Brackish Outfitters
Brackish Outfitters is committed to providing exceptional service—and most importantly, to get you fishing. Headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, we’re equipped with an intimate understanding of all our New England fisheries, fresh and salt-water alike.
Celebrating 10 years of guiding and rod building, our goals are to share the incredible sport of fishing while preserving the wild populations of our native fish. Conservation and education are as important to us as keeping you fed and having fun on a day trip with us.
As a small, independent business, every customer and guest is important to us. We look forward to building a relationship with you, whether it’s for the afternoon you’re in town visiting or many seasons fishing together.
Come fish with us. We’ll keep you on your feet, your line tight, and your net full.
Meet Geoff
Geoff Klane is the owner and operator of Brackish Outfitters. His dedication to New England fishing expands beyond building rods and bringing folks out fishing, though that’s certainly his favorite way to spend a day. As the engineer behind the annual Save the Stripers fundraiser, Geoff is committed to conscientious fishing and caring for the local ecology.
To date, Geoff has overseen more than $30,000 raised for striped bass conservation, personally connecting our wonderful community of anglers with local businesses and artists in the pursuit of saving our stripers.
A popular guest on fishing podcasts, Geoff has also been interviewed by NPR and was featured on an episode of chef Brad Leone’s Local Legends series. See our media page for links, and be sure to follow Geoff on Instagram.
Geoff and his partner Jamie live locally in Lowell with their goofy rescue shepherd mix, Leroy. Leroy is in training as a fishing guide supervisor.
Geoff’s Story
Growing up in Massachusetts, I had never really spent too much time outside exploring all that Massachusetts and New England have to offer, and even less time fishing. It wasn't until 2014, after moving back to Massachusetts after college that I discovered the Lowell Canal system and thought, "Well, I should probably try fishing in there..."
I travel the state in search of new waters, gorgeous sights, and hungry fish, and relish the opportunity for another adventure. This incredible pastime connects and binds me to nature and the natural beauty which fills Massachusetts. It is my honor and pleasure to share my ever-expanding knowledge and passion for this sport, this region, and the preservation of its fisheries.
“On my most recent trip with Geoff, we met early on a Cape Cod beach to test out the Spring Run. We fished open beaches, jetties and inlets, and connected with good numbers of schoolie stripers in a channel on the outgoing tide. We fished Geoff's beautifully tied flies with rods he built himself. Even the lunch was special. Geoff has a unique and refreshing perspective on fishing and everything connected to it, and when you spend time with him you come away a better angler, yes, but also with a little bit of his appreciation for nature and your place in it.”
